At Harenc School we feel it is important to develop links with the community in many ways.

Our relationship with parents and their extended family is very important to the school and we continue to develop our links with:

  • local schools and pre-schools
  • Bexley local authority
  • Civic Officers
  • our neighbours
  • Industry and businesses
  • Other agencies

The school supports a large number of charities and the boys are actively encouraged to consider the needs of other people.

During 2008-09 the school's record of charitable giving continued with participation in:

The Readathon for Clic Sergeant and The Roald Dahl Foundation is a wonderful way to encourage children to read and every year Harenc participates in the Readathon organised by The Roald Dahl Foundation.   Pupils are encouraged to read as many books as possible over a three week period and be sponsored for their achievements.  Taking part is voluntary; however, in 2009 we raised £371.70.

The Manna Centre, who care for the homeless and long-term unemployed, are delighted to receive our Harvest Festival gifts every Autumn.

Leading up to Christmas every year pupils donate a box containing gifts such as toys, pencils, books, hats and gloves.  The Love-in-a-Box donations are distrubuted to children in Eastern Europe so they are also able to enjoy Christmas.

RNLI Week raised £52.08 this year.

Royal British Legion poppies are sold in school leading up to Remembrance Day.  

Pupils and staff enjoyed fun activities and games in aid of this year's Comic Relief "Red Nose Day" with £343.55 being raised.

Macmillan Cancer Care - on Wednesday 8 July the school again participated in Macmillan's "Big Picnic".  Activities, sponsored by the Parents' Association, were organised throughout the day with a picnic lunch for everyone.
